Life on the Line tracks down Australian war veterans and records their stories. Today's bonus episode is with Geraint "Gez" Jones. Gez deployed three times to the Middle East as an infantry soldier in the British Army's Royal Welsh regiment – twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. For his actions in Basra, Gez was awarded the General Officer Commanding’s Commendation. Upon leaving the military, Gez worked to protect commercial shipping against Somali and Nigerian based piracy. He now writes full-time and is a Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of fiction and non-fiction books. He’s just released his memoir – “Brothers in Arms” – a recount of his time in Afghanistan. Gez spoke to Alex Lloyd about his military career, primarily on the Afghanistan deployment, his battle with PTSD and journey of post-traumatic growth.

The pair talk about the challenges H faced during his time as a commando, how he has changed as a result of his service, and his outlook to the future.

Today's conversation is with a former senior Special Forces soldier, thrice decorated for conspicuous service and valour. The 2nd Commando Regiment veteran known Wes 'H' Hennessey was a Warrant Officer Class One and served in the Australian Defence Force for 24 years. In the first instalment of a five-part conversation with Alex Lloyd, H described his journey to the army, training, his deployment to Somalia, the birth of the Commandos, his time in Timor, and the emergence of the Tactical Assault Group East.

Now they're in the civilian workforce, armed with MBAs. The pair spoke Alex Lloyd about lessons of leadership and command from their time in the SASR, from principles to specific action-packed examples, how those lessons influence their work and lives today, and their new podcast, 'The Unforgiving60'.
Ben and Tim returned to the podcast to talk more on leadership, resilience, COVID-19 and the Black Hawk accident of 1996, in Season 4. They were also featured that year in Christmas on the Line Vol III.
The duo returned to the podcast in Season 5 to talk about their book, The Resilience Shield, in SAS Resilience with Dr Dan Pronk, Ben Pronk and Tim Curtis.

Emma shared with Sharon Mascall-Dare her story of personal courage in overcoming adversity.

Life on the Line tracks down Australian war veterans and records their stories. Nathan Bolton is a veteran of the Special Operations Engineer Regiment. After his first tour of Afghanistan, he completed the SAS Selection course but was not selected for further training with the regiment. He went back to Afghanistan with the Special Operations Task Group as a combat engineer, searching and clearing improvised explosive devices. Nathan spoke to Sharon Mascall-Dare about his relentless pursuit to be the best, the dangers of ensuring the safety of members of the 2nd Commando Regiment from a hidden threat, and the intense emotional journey he went through after his medical discharge.
